The theme of the 15-year special exhibition, “Be The Change”, originated from a book by writer Zhu Ping “Be The Change”, in which Gandhi’s phrase “Be the change you want to see in the world” deeply touched the heart of Xinru, and no one knew that the changes that occurred in Lin Guoliangpin’s masters, partners and customers all originated from the bird’s beak pliers in the master’s hands. That warm and firm force, like a butterfly effect, becomes a great existence. Seeing the customers wearing Lin Guo shoes, they have achieved many important moments in their lives, as if Lin Guo has also completed an incredible thing.
Between 2020 and 2021, Covid-19 has affected the pace of the world, changing the lives we take for granted. At the moment when the epidemic slowed down in September 2020, how to take into account the epidemic prevention and organize an exhibition for the guests and hosts really stumped Lin Guo’s partners, and after countless internal discussions, the partners decided to string together this exhibition with the four themes of “not just a shoe store, the key to reversal and change, DIY handicraft workshop and Lin Guo leather shoe museum”.
▊A two-day “Changing Shoe Shop”
Perfectly integrated into the more than 80-year-old bathhouse monuments, the clever use of pure white tiles, mottled walls and light bars to create a sense of line between light and shadow, reproduce the fusion of old and new, classic and futuristic carving, and give the imagination of contemporary shoemaking technology in the traces of history.
▊ More than just a shoe store — change the link
At the entrance, you will be greeted by the “More than a Shoe Shop” exhibition area on the left, which tells the story of the changes that start from the hands of the master to make shoes, and pass them on to the customers through the services of Lin Guo’s partners, and the process of change completed by the shoemaker in the journey of life. There are tools used by the masters when making shoes, uniforms of Lin Guo’s partners over the years, and finally a warm handwritten card that Lin Guo customers will receive. Looking at all this on display, it is as if time is whispering in our ears, telling us that change is also part of a beautiful process.
The starting point – the master’s time
In the golden age of Taiwan’s shoemaking, three teenagers cut and beat countless days and nights, just to support the weight of the word “master”. The three masters who have been adhering to the perfect shoemaking process for more than 40 years are the starting point of this journey.
Strung together – the service journey of partners
Each customer has their own reasons for buying shoes, and Linguo store partners can find the most suitable shoes with goodwill exchange, attentive service and care, and will use these shoes to complete more changes.

Beautiful things transform lives and create new life. This time, we also saw from the stories shared by our customers how Lin Guo became a part of the story of everyone’s “change”.
▊ Twist the key to change
Change, in fact, is simple, but it can also be very difficult. There are always many external factors in life that hinder you from making good changes, and Lin Guo hopes to write down the things you want to change through this key to reversing change, so that many changes can accompany you forward. As Confucianism once said, “All changes, though small, are the starting point of the butterfly effect. Every step will shine and become a force for change in the world.”
▊ Linguo Leather Shoes Museum
On the right-hand side, you will see the “Shoe Museum” area, which mainly displays the manufacturing process related to shoemaking. Footwear, among the objects to be worn, is highly technical and at the same time needs to have an aesthetic base. The steps of shoemaking are often closely related to the manufacturing method, material, and design. How many processes does it take to get a pair of shoes? 100 or 50 are actually difficult to calculate clearly. Dismantling the birth of a pair of handmade shoes can be roughly divided into eight steps. From the development of the last to the final of the shoe, every effort must not be sloppy, and everything requires exquisite craftsmanship.
Lin Guo Liangpin 15 years of past, here incarnated into 15 pairs of classic shoes, starting from the first two sides of the head loafers, to the classic 1940 penny loafers launched this year, each pair of shoes has a wonderful story behind it, with Lin Guo’s 15 years of memorabilia, unexposed Jiantan, Nanjing studio, green photos again and again revealed our good times.
▊DIY hand-made workshop
At the last stop of the exhibition, “DIY Handicraft Workshop”, this time we played with handmade leather reels. The convenience of industrialization has made us accustomed to buying finished products, but the joy and sense of accomplishment of doing it ourselves cannot be replaced. In this “Changing Leather Shoe Shop”, which is only open for two days, you can experience DIY handmade leather reel making by checking in, from painting leather, cutting and punching holes without fake hands, you can experience the fun of DIY hand-made throughout the whole process.
The fate of life is very coherent, we are a shoe store, and sometimes it is not just a shoe store. It’s a place where customers get the opportunity to change, people we work with go through work experiences, and when we leave here, we’ll all change. But looking back, they are all precious changes that have become nutrients for future growth. I am very happy to see so many friends who love Linguo Liangpin in the past few days, and I hope that on the road in the future, everyone can have a good development, and each of them can step out of their own small but powerful changes Be the Change.
