Lin Guo had the opportunity to open a counter in Tainan, a beautiful old town of Taiwan, and also experienced the leisurely pace of Tainan’s old town. At that time, because of work, I could only spend the night near the department store, and I couldn’t fit in well. Last spring, a hostel full of ideals for Taiwanese land was about to embark on a new revolution in accommodation in Tainan, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of this program. This is also a new place to stay that we have featured in many articles with bloggers this year: UIJ Hotel & Hostel.
U.I.J is located on Youai Street in the Central and Western District of Tainan, which was the earliest area developed by the Han people in Taiwan, and has become the political center of Taiwan for nearly 200 years since the Ming and Zheng periods. Although the roads are relatively narrow compared to the roads opened after the war, the number of national monuments in Tainan is the largest, and it is very suitable for walking.
Since the opening of the U.I.J. Wooai Street Hotel, many friends have spoken highly of it, and there have been ample opportunities to discuss the equipment used in the inn. Many friends of Lin Guo were surprised and delighted to see Lin Guo’s waxy cowhide interior slippers in the room, and the comfortable and good-looking appearance added to the added value of “good taste” in this hotel, and even many guests were very much looking forward to buying it home after the experience. At the beginning of the discussion with Youai Street Hotel, Lin Guo and his team discussed the concept of “environmental protection” and “reuse” to replace the paper slippers commonly used in regular hotels with leather slippers in the hotel. A few years ago, “disposable” products that appealed to hygiene habits have gradually begun to stop providing guests such as toothbrushes, paper slippers, etc., in restaurants in some big cities. The purpose is also to avoid environmental pollution and waste of resources, so Lin Guo also supports this concept.
Since 2016, Lin Guo has designed and manufactured waxy cowhide indoor slippers, which are actually plastic slippers that must be replaced frequently in ordinary families, which not only have a bad texture, but also must be discarded and replaced because of the short time of use. Therefore, it is also hoped that through the production of leather slippers, Lin Guo can enter the warm home from outdoor gentleman’s leather shoes, so that ordinary families can use them. The leather slippers that have been cooperated with Youai Street Hotel this time are also products that follow this style.
This time, the “Linguo Liangpin ORINGO x U.I.J Co-branded Leather Slippers” uses all cowhide oily leather, and chooses two colors, mustard yellow and cocoa brown, of which mustard yellow is the exclusive color of U.I.J, so that they show a unique style in the room, and printed with the logo of U.I.J and Linguo Liangpin. After seeing the finished product, the Linguo team also liked it very much.

A hotel experience full of Taiwanese design and retro style
In order to see Lin Guo’s “indoor slipper children” at Youai Street Hotel, Lin Guo’s team arranged an accommodation experience itinerary. When I first stepped into the lobby of U.I.J, I was impressed by the style presented in the lobby. Ships made of rivets, lead plates, and black iron are suspended in the hall, and you can feel the adventurous spirit of the Age of Sail. In the hall, the “BBBooks” bookstore is equipped with all kinds of books for exchanging cultures and learning cooking skills, which makes people feel the strong cultural atmosphere of Fucheng. Lin Guo’s indoor slippers are also displayed and sold in the retro shirt cabinet in the hall, and are placed together with bone furniture from various countries and Europe, adding to the warm temperament of the years.

In addition to the stunning lobby, U.I.J. is also a cross-border hybrid hotel of design hotel and youth hostel. The facilities inside include the Hello Salon, which often holds art and cultural speech activities; Open Kitchen, a shared kitchen where backpackers can learn their cooking skills; After pushing the door out of the backpacker floor, there is also a very comfortable open terrace Free Terrace, where travelers can enjoy the unique air atmosphere of the southern climate.
The hotel uses a large number of red bricks to extend the building and the room, as the background color, which is the red brick wall stacked by Taiwanese craftsmen after eight processes, which has the benefit of being warm in winter and cool in summer. The common Taiwanese elements, such as the embossed glass and the ancient method of grinding stone flooring, are buried in copper wire to cut beautiful curves, adding depth to the Tainan Humanities Hotel and highlighting the difference from ordinary design hotels.

After entering the room, I saw Lin Guo’s waxy cowhide indoor slippers lying quietly in the entrance of the entrance, although there were traces of use, but we could better understand the operator’s intentions for environmental protection. We asked the U.I.J staff about the cleaning and hygiene, and they said that the housekeeping staff disinfected with alcohol every day, although it was a little more labor-intensive than throwing away paper slippers, but they believed that travelers could appreciate their dedication to the green environment.
In addition, the room type of Youle Room also has an exclusive vinyl turntable and selected records, you can play the music selected by U.I.J after being tired, and enjoy the slow travel that belongs to the Tainan humanities. The refillable welcome sparkling water is different from the disposable bottled mineral water used by hotels, and it is very impressive to make a good effort to protect the global environment.

In addition to the collaboration with many well-known Taiwanese interior designers, many Taiwanese brand products are also used in the rooms, including the use of exclusive room keys specially customized by Liao Studio Leather. The uniforms on the service staff are the same as the local men’s clothing brand in TainanOqliqCooperate in the design of denim uniforms, and ask Tainan masters to sew by hand. After this U.I.J. visit, I found that there are more and more serious hotels and restaurants in Taiwan, integrating Taiwanese design, environmental protection style, and humanistic reading into life. Taiwan’s multiculturalism makes tourism more in-depth. There are also more hotels that are starting to pay attention to the concept of environmental protection, and use non-disposable leather slippers and toiletries. Lin Guo Liangpin also indirectly feels honored to do its part to protect the earth.
